The Matrix was originally opened in 1965 by Marty Balin as a place for his new band, Jefferson Airplane, to play. From that moment on, The Matrix showcased the biggest bands of the 60's. In 1972 The Matrix closed its doors, but was revived as MatrixFillmore in 2001 with a plush and intimate vibe that instantly became a favorite nightspot for San Francisco locals and visitors.

Today, the MatrixFillmore has evolved from a once-popular hangout as The Matrix, featuring the hottest bands of the 60's, to today as MatrixFillmore, where the hottest DJs from the Bay Area and beyond come to showcase their talent. It's one of San Francisco's most intimate, boutique-style music venues where you can enjoy handcrafted cocktails, bottle service and premium champagnes while dancing to a range of dance music, from House to 70s, 80s, 90s genre.
